i honestly don't know if this is a good idea or a ridiculously stupid idea, but if i were you, i'd take it to a tire shop and actually have them puncture that hole all the way through and then patch it up.
i personally would be so stressed out driving if i just left that as it was and would constantly wonder when it would blow out on me. lol
