Although I realize that the proposed Mexican plant would be automated with the same equipment as the German and S.C. plants use, I'm not so sure about the supply of components such as trim, interior parts, etc. I've seen Mexican VW products that are not too good in this respect, but does that mean that German produced ones are any better?

Regardless, I'm not going to be the first one to buy their new Mexican-built product. I can see how they would want to drastically reduce labor costs with their new VW-fighting FWD cars, but the 3-series? Why not build onto their proven Greenville plant and build them there? Surely they can absorb the average $14/hour labor cost in the price of these cars. The suppliers pass the test for the X's, so they should be able to do so with the 3-series as well.
