New bikes usually come out Sep/Oct time with sales starting soon but as mentioned due to inflation you cannot guarantee the newer spec models will be better equipped than previous years, given the same price.
But at the same time there's a constant 'trickle down' of feature and technology from the top end group sets/frame design into the rest of the range.
Essential £1k will get u a nice unbranded bike with either carbon or good aluminium frame, and will have either Shimano 105 groupset or SRAM rival/apex. Wait for the sales and you might pick up a branded bike with same spec for around the same price. Either way your get a bike which is more than good enough for general use, and I can guarantee its your own fitness that will be the limiting factor not the bike
Having said that if you want the best gear you can easily spend £5k on just the frame and groupset, add in a decent wheelset and finishing kit you can wave good bye to £7k
