My car will pass 5000 miles shortly. I want to do an oil change myself before the scheduled service at 12K because I think changing the oil at 12K for the first time will shorten the life span of my engine.
I've been searching the forum and found some people mentioned Mobil 1 0W-40 is the only alternative (approved by BMW) besides BMW's own oil which is really Castrol inside.
Please advise, thanks in advance.
