You need to change the sensor in order to clear the computer if your countdown is at 0 for brakes... otherwise, you are going to have the stupid brake warning light on the centre screen, AND the red hand brake light warning on.
I tried to clear the codes myself (didn't work) and I ended up doing this at an independent shop, they had a print out for me that says from BMW that the brake sensor needs to be replaced in order to clear codes...
