The woofer does stick up higher on the surround, and it is deeper also. Some enclosures (I think HiFi?) have a plastic fin sticking up on the bottom of the enclosure that hits the woofer unless you trim it off. If you use a 1/4" thick spacer then it doesn't hit - but then you are pushing the surround into the carpet. So we use a steel ring and a gasket in our kit, and tell you to trim the tab inside. We also now have the plug-in adapter in our kit so that it plugs into the stock wiring for HiFi and Top HiFi (h/k or Logic 7) systems.
