I think you misunderstood... I didn't say they were unreliable. I just said there's a reason why they went out of business (i.e. price, bad executives, not being able to compete with other brands). I can speak for BMW that it varies from car to car on how reliable they are. My dad's 2000 E46 328i has over 170k miles and he's had cheap maintenence so far. But, my 2009 328i had a series of expensive repairs as soon as I purchased it at 68k miles. But 12k since, I haven't had a problem.
