@ Rochdale Pioneers - top post fella, nice to see some logical thought expressed clearly.

Can I just add that 4 pence per litre (18 p per gallon) on 10,000 miles per year at (say) 40 mpg = £45 extra per year. Of course, that isn't welcomed - what tax ever is? But come on, you can't run a BMW and get too excited at a £45 annual price rise, surely? Lets keep some perspective here.
