I went to a reputable dealer yesterday and asked about their warranties. They said by law they offer the 30 day warranty but they can also up-sell to an Allianz warranty that covers the car as the NEW warranty would.
I asked him to give me examples of what it covers. He said everything until the car reaches 3 or 4 year or 200,000 KM on the odometer (whichever comes first). He said a client bought a pre-owned 5-Series and his gearbox sent. The warranty covered parts and labor for the $11,000 repair.
The estimate of the warranty for a $40,000 pre-owned BMW was around $3,500.
Now if it is what the dealer said it is, its not a bad option for piece of mind. But I take everything a dealer says with a grain of salt.
Anyone ever had to claim on one of these?
