Just a tid bit...
I have a 2010 E92 and everyone here told me that my map update via the USB slot in the glovebox would not take because of my firmware...this is not always the case...
I went to best buy and got a 32gb Sandisk Cruzer and WAS able to update to the 2013 maps with that, so if you are having trouble get one of those at best buy. You can always return it if it does not work.
