I'm surprised on the issues you are finding.
Mine is 52,000 miles, Sedan 328Xi, and today the valve cover gasket started to leak.
It is desapointing since I do not abuse this car, and I expected I would not see such problems on a BMW.... I think I was being naive.
If this car behaves somewhat like your issues... BMW never more, at least for me, and I'm a litlle nervous because seems that I'm reaching the mileage when "everything" starts to happen, per your example.
Mine is a CPO, which warranty expires in February 2013.... I'm just worried about what will come next.
