i bought this short shifter kit

but i am having hard time understanding how to get to the bottom portion so i can install the new kit. I was able to remove the pin of the old shifter from the top but i can't install the new one. i need to get from the bottom.
What do i need to remove from the bottom on an XI to be able to install the pin?
