That's right. By paying the ticket (and going to traffic school if you're eligible), you are admitting guilt. Going to traffic school is a mechanism by which your ticket will be invisible to insurance companies. You can't go to traffic school and also fight the ticket. It's an either/or situation. Of course, you can always just pay the ticket straight up and not go to traffic school. The fine will be the same. But you will be assessed points on your DMV record.
Also, and hopefully nobody here will ever need to know this, if you ever get a speeding ticket over 100 MPH, that offense will count against you in criminal history if you ever get caught for a crime. And criminal history is an important factor to judges when determining sentences.
