The triangle storage on the pre-2009 was on the left side, up under the fender. I don't have a photo of it, though.

Meanwhile, I managed to find on the LeatherZ site that they sell what looks like the same exact triangle kit as you show in your 2009 E90 trunk pics, but for the 1 Series. I measured and had LeatherZ check dimensions, and it seems that the parts are common.
So... I orderd the 1 Series triangle from LeatherZ for my 2009 E90 LCI. When I install it and check fit in a few weeks I will report back.
