I think I have a much more professional way to do this. Cost is $2.50. I used a "soft vacuum elbow. Vacutite part # 47408 1/8" x 5/32" (3.17mm x 3.96mm). Pulled off the vacuum line. Broke off a golf tee and inserted it into the vacuum line. Inserted the other end of the golf tee into the soft elbow. Wrapped the joint with gorilla glue tape. Put the elbow back onto the vacuum fitting on the exhaust pipe. Clean, cheap, easy and no dangling tubing or open lines. Took less than 5 mins.
