Mostly due to no back pressure since the airbox has been removed. To compensate for this you would need some type of forced induction.

The BMW intake is NOT a cold air intake. It is a closed system and still uses the bottom half of the OEM air box. You pay a lot for what I call a half of a system since you retain part of the OEM box.
