Unless your low feedback put off the seller you should have won simply with a higher bid.

This is an idiotic discussion as the best thing is to decide your highest amount you are willing and bid it about 10 seconds before the end of the auction. That way noone has a chance to counter your bid and you get it for the cheapest you possibly could.

If you bid miles before the end it means people counter and then you counter and it pushes the price up unneccessarily.
