Lol, yes 40 Cetane is the us minimum. For the most part german cars are designed around European 50+ cetane fuel then modified for the poor diesel in the us...thus we'll take whatever quality we can get.
Imagine if 95% of the gas pumps read "minimum Octane 87" but it could easily be 93, 87, or 90, etc...that's the boat we diesel drivers are in, thus you can imagine we get rather excited when finding fuel certified to a higher standard.
