You do realize that California roads are as smooth as a babies bottom compared to roads in places that have actual winter? I have a pothole in my DRIVEWAY that has developed in the past couple years.

People from California must come to New England and think they are driving on the moon!

That said, I haven't had a flat since 1989 (6"shard of steel through the tire) - if you pay attention to what you are doing while driving, wheel and tire insurance is not necessary. Also helps to avoid the more fashion victim wheel sizes. And insurance fraud is generally a lousy idea.
