All of the above advice is pretty true!!
If you are looking to eat in the city centre while indulging in a few beers etc then Le Monde is still the default choice to be honest. If you are going to be a large party then it would be a good idea to ring in advance (ask for Simon).
Otherwise there are plenty of average places that will serve you average food fairly quickly.
I'm afraid I'm too old to know much about the current club scene
But Mill Lane has a variety of options and is on your doorstep if you choose Le Monde.
