I am using INPA software, and my question is, if I just read and clear the error, would that be enough to clear the lights from the dash (assuming it is a bad connection) or is there any coding involved to get rid of the lights?

This error magically appeared right after my car went in for emissions.
I just had a similar issue to airbag and cleared the code, crossing finger for it to not come back. I suggest saving the details of the error as shown in INPA, then clearing the code also in INPA - it may be all you need and is worth a try.
