No, and ALL kinds of problems you can potentially expect - from early failure to insidious UV emissions. If you can get brand name bulbs you can trust are actually brand name, then maybe. But counterfeits abound!
Google HID UV TEST - there are a bunch of lightbulb-nerd types (as we are BMW-nerd types... a fact not an insult...) who have performed some pretty spectacular scientific tests on HID bulbs with ratings all over the map. Philips and Osram-Sylvannia usually set the bar.
