... I have a jet black car (aka softest paint known to the auto industry pretty much) and I had no issues.

Use a hair drier to warm it up, doesnt need to even be that hot. Then use fishing line or even dental floss and "saw" through the glue.

Then wipe the residue with some goo-gone, and wash and wax and you will be quite happy!
