I know this is an old post but I actually clear coat all my new suspension components before installing for an extra layer of protection, it definitely helps.

If you don't plan on moving the ride height on coilovers, you can spray the threads too. I ended up dialing my ride height then giving the threads a quick coating also.

I noticed the parts stay cleaner a lot longer and resist corrosion better. This goes for any suspension component.
