The welder guy said that he would have had to cut top and bottom open on both sides to cut the perforated pipe and then weld a solid pipe in due to spacial constraints. That would have cost a lot more and I was trying to keep the hacking-up of stock parts to a minimum.

I own a midas and thinking of doing this my exhaust tech said he can deff get the perforated pipe replaced with a steel pipe but ur saying that if i just remove all the packing that i should get pe sound?
