Syncing of the contacts list is done via bluetooth, whether you have the phone plugged in or not. That shouldn't have been affected by the 3.0 software.
I just tried mine after updating my 3G to OS 3.0. The ipod functions and bluetooth work as before, however, it won't charge. When I plug in, I get the plug icon over the battery instead of the lightning bolt charging icon. I have 6FL and non-iDrive.
