Impact damage can cause sidewall bulges/bubbles regardless of whether or the the tire's a runflat. It's only a "RFT thing" because the tires are more expensive so people bitch about it more.
Hell, I got a impact bulge on my Escort when I was in high school, but I didn't bitch too much about replacing a $40 tire.
