They have been revised over time, and are better, but still are not bullet proof. The materials required to last are very costly, and even those will not last forever. Your best bet for Wastegate longevity is to keep the wastegate actuators in perfect adjustment, as the further the internal wastegate bushings wear the further out of adjustment the actuators go and in turn the faster the bushing and shaft are worn. Hope that makes sense, but I have seen even some 1M cores come back and have alarming amounts of wear considering the age and mileage.
