No its you who are wrong as soon as the HPFP runs outta of steam it will trigger a limp mode..there is no longer fuel being fed into the cylinders so how could it not cause a limp and eventually stall the engine..

maybe you just got lucky and were able to hobble along w a dying pump but the fact is if you continue to drive you will experience a limp and then a stall
