The 3.0sd is 216gm/km, so its £280 a year VED. I have had a peek at the new X3 and I think an excursion to the BMW dealer is in order this weekend. Instinctively I prefer the X5, but will see what the X3 has to offer space wise.
i am trying to see if the 2008 car is badged as an xDrive on the pictures (front wing) but it's hard to tell.
