If you have a good indy mechanic and/or like to do your own repairs, you'd prolly come out ahead by self-insuring. If you don't have a garage/tools/inclination or a mechanic you trust, you should prolly get the warranty. A warranty does make it easier to sell, but I dunno if you'll get enough extra for the car to justify the $3K cost...
