It frankly does not sound like you were overheating your oil. Why spend money on an upgraded oil cooler if you are not 100% sure that was the issue?
Try running pure water in the radiator with Redline Water Wetter. See how that does.
Were you shifting at redline every time? If so this seems to be the main cause of limp modes at the track.
I agree with Leftcoastman about the 100 octane. I am off to the track this morning and filled almost completely with 100. Costly but cheaper than a new (and arguable unnecessary) oil cooler.
A number of people asked and you never answered...do you have a tune?
