ask about extending the new car warranty. or get the car CPO. its worth it since no one really knows what long term reliability of that car is like
other option i'd look for is going with mechanical breakdown insurance through your auto insurance provider (geico's coverage is something stupid cheap like $250/yr)
like any insurance product you need to read the policy contract end to end to find out what is covered what is excluded and what the reimbursement terms are to you. i would not want to keep a bmw out of new car warranty personally, but if forced to i would pick up mechanical breakdown insurance that includes electronics
