Yea wet sanding and removing the clear is pretty much the only way and BMWs have a lot more clear on it then most manufactures but I wouldn't worry about it.

3 Series are pretty common with orange peel on the doors and sometimes light on the hood trust me I shopped and shopped for months looking for specific options and no peel finally I gave up start looking at 3 Series in parking lots they almost all have it even 5's haven't looked much at 7's or X's but i noticed it less as you go up to a more expensive model
