The whole point of CPO is before purchase so the dealer can do whatever is needed to bring the car up to BMW standards before being sold - e.g. windshield, tires, etc.

If you are going to buy it after the purchase, why not just wait and buy an extended warranty before your factory warranty runs out? If you have nav, you will definitely want the warranty vs. CPO as CPO doesn't cover it.
