One could also suggest that part of the reason that BMWs are as you put it 'a dime a dozen' is down to the fact that in the US BMW subsidise their retail price so dramatically to inflate their global numbers.

No doubt it is working, given your comments on how common they are but it's human nature to seek to better themselves and a BMW in the driveaway will certainly do that.
