The boot hollow used to come with a foam insert (E92 anyway). This got deleted when BMW reduced the specification of the cars in March this year. Some people with pre March 09 cars didn't have it either - don't know why, and I don't think 335 owners have ever had it due to the twin exhausts.
Perhaps it can be bought as an accessory now?
