personal opinion of mine,
i have a car that(dont know how) got full of railrust that you talk about.
i tried wax,i tried the iron x you mention(and still use it for my rims)
and sure it helps,but i would really recommend the clay bar for removing the rail rust.the iron x makes it look clean,but it doesnt 'really' remove the railrust
if you do wanna try,what i do is just spray it on the part you wanna clean,
for example rims
i spray on my rims,wait for it to turn purple,go over it with a brush,and clean them
