Sorry if that sounded like an affront. Typically, from my experience, the deposit is only refundable at the buyer's request. The logic is that the buyer has not yet seen the final product and it may not meet his expectations. Obviously, dealers can play all sorts of game by slipping people into the list. You need to buy from a dealer you have faith in. My dealer, to my knowledge (bought my first 2002 from them in 1973), has never played these games. Even sold the Z8 at list.
