HAHA... I kid you not, I was just updating this to say that I've not got a chance for pics as I've been too busy trying to descale the bloody thing haha.
So far I've tried -
White Vinegar Bath over 48 hours
Viakal
Wire Brush (had some effect)
Descaling powder from B&Q (I suspect this was just bicarb soda)
Bicarb of Soda 24 hour soak
Tooth Paste
Wet & Dry sandpaper (good for flat surfaces and does show pitting)
Scraping with Flat head Screwdriver (most effective thing I've done but only very good when dry)
I'm now considering a dremel sized wirebrush or grinding stone as it just takes ages with the scraping.
@john320d I think you're right with the oxide.
