I think it's because there are a lot of strange people about,who don't think before they speak.
They think nothing about making up big piles of horse shit, thinking that they won't be found out.
Unfortunately,the Internet brings us into brief contact with these people.
Remember that woman who made up the story about having her partner killed in the 9/11 attack and became a spokesperson for the survivors before being found out...
And closer to home,the "kidnap" of Shannon Matthews...
There are lots of people like this out there!
