The most noticable difference between the 335i and 330i is at higher speeds - 60mph+
The 335i is quite a lot quicker, but you don't really need that extra performance on the road. To that extent the 330i might be enough for you and since it rewards being worked harder, it's perhaps a more involving drive.
I'd get petrol + manual every time, but that's because I enjoy driving them.
