I was just talking to a svc manager whether they had any official recommendations on how to avoid that build up (they don't), but one thing he did mention (and I don't know how true that is) is that the diesel fuel below VA is generally better bc "there are less additives in it that are mixed in for the heavy equipment in the colder northern states". Certainly an interesting hypothesis..
