McGwire admits to using 'roids.

For all you baseball fans out there, McGwire admitted today to using steroids for pretty much his entire career. I think what bothered me most, was Bud Selig's reaction:

Commissioner Bud Selig said he was "pleased" by McGwire's admission, adding, "This statement of contrition I believe will make Mark's re-entry into the game much smoother and easier."

Pete Rose admitted to betting while still part of the MLB, but never bet on any game he was connected to either as a manager or player, and he's banned indefinitely. One of baseball's greatest players, with a record that will go untouched for years is banned for life for betting on the sport.

However, another baseball great is welcomed, essentially with open arms after he admits to using illegal performance enhancing drugs for nearly his entire career. It can be assumed that while Rose may have bet on baseball to increase his income, McGwire was using performance enhancing drugs that helped him break a near 40 year old record and land him multi-million dollar endorsements.

If McGwire is still eligible for entering the HOF after admittedly using illegal drugs, then Pete Rose should be eligible. Baseball's rules and regulations are so fucking ridiculous; use illegal performance enhancing drugs and you get a bunch of slaps on the wrist until your 4th time being caught, but you bet on a few games and you're banned for life.
