thanks for all the responses i've not had it checked yet because of work. So haven't been driving it at all. I'm wondering if it is the pinion bearing going out. The sound goes away when the motor is off and i am coasting downhill. Anyone heard of any cost associated with replacing diff, bearing, or tcase?

I plan to have it diagnosed this week at a BMW dealership somewhere in the DMV area. I've heard its like 150 or so for that. Times like this i wish I still had warranty. Expired bout 3 months ago.
