Oh, and if you do remove it. Use a very sharp blade to cut it out. I used a dremel with sanding drum to clean up the edge. Remove the MAF while doing this, and clean that whole filter housing half thoroughly before re-assembling. Its got this fine dust of charcoal that could contaminate the MAF.
