Parents are parents. I've been through same situation. But anyway, its good for you in long term.
Be careful that you do not transport your car on train. Read this thread on "Rail Dust" causing rust on paint.

However, you may try to convince your dad to ride with you.
Or else, find a good transport company even if costs more money.
