Potential annoyances would be SCR system, injector failure, EGR. Right now every vehicle should've had the EGR/SCR recall work. I also question the need for head removal to address carbon. It seems that it's SOP to.have this work done when an injector is replaced but I wonder if an "Italian tune-up" would have the same effect. I've had no problems with my car. I drive mostly highway over 70 mph and every month while on the hwy I drive a few miles over 3.5 rpms. Car has been fine.
Btw..all diesels have some soot/carbon build up.
