I bought my car from a girl over 5 months ago, *2006 330i* and she didn't take good care of the paint because when I took a closer look at it I had bad water spots that wouldn't be removed from wash or wax or clay. They were baked on and unremovable. Recently I got a bit of money together and I decided to buy some meguiars ultra polish. I spent over 5 hours washing, polishing, and waxing my car. After using the polish and wiping it down, the water spots were gone and my paint became mirror new again.
What I'm trying to say here is that meguiars ultra polish is hands down an amazing fix to water spots and renewing paint. If you have an older paint and worse shape try a compound.
Sorry I couldn't take any before and after photos because once I finished the polish I realized I should have.

Btw I applied the polish by hand with an applier.
