I blame it on the 1940's Era street design..before cars were low.
My driveway sucks too, the freaking curb of the entrance is like 2 inches high so backing in is the only option for me. I also need to get my angle correctly when coming in and out too because of my lip.

OP, how deep are the scratches? I'd probably just fill it up with touch up paint, you'd probably also need to sand it flat as there's probably a lot of material surrounding the scratches. Another option is to get an aero lip to cover the scratch but don't know if that will cause you more problems when driving.
